Joachim Vance, Verifone’s Chief Security Architect and Distinguished Engineer, leads secure software architecture and cryptographic designs for payment systems. Joachim has 29 years of software development experience working on security products including enterprise authentications systems, biometrics, smartcards, and key and certificate management. One of his certificate and smartcard management systems was deployed by the US Government. Joachim is actively involved in creating security standards for financial cryptography including sitting on the PCI Board of Advisors, co-creator of ANSI AES DUKPT, and format-preserving encryption standards at NIST and ANSI. He holds several patents for security, encryption and authentication systems, has spoken at several security conferences, and has been a CISSP since 2004.
